Respiratory Care

Maier Family Pharmacy, along with franchise partner ConvaCare Services, is now offering Home and Portable Oxygen equipment and supplies to patients living in Monona, Woodbury, Ida, Crawford and Plymouth counties in Iowa.  This partnership with ConvaCare allows us to supply Oxygen and equipment nationwide for our traveling Oxygen patients.

 

For those patients suffering from obstructive sleep apnea, we can provide CPAP and BiPAP equipment and mask supplies.  We also offer an automatic supply delivery program to make sure your filters, masks and supplies are delivered on a regular schedule..

 

Oxygen services, CPAP and BiPAP systems along with home and portable nebulizer machines are in stock and ready to assist with your respiratory therapy.  Our Respiratory Therapist can assist your physician with patient assessments that include overnight oximetry readings along with other vital information.

Oxygen Orders & Documentation

Physicians Order must include:

  1. Patient's Name & Date of Birth

  2. Type of Oxygen being ordered (Home / Portable / both)

  3. Oxygen flow rate - (2-Lpm, 2-4Lpm, 3-Lpm pulse, etc.)

  4. How the Oxygen is to be delivered (nasal cannual / mask)

  5. When Oxygen is to be administered (nocturnal, continuous, etc.)

  6. Patient's qualifying Diagnosis

  7. Length of need - how long will the patient need to use Oxygen

  8. Physician's Signature & Date

 

Supporting Medical Need Documentation:

Documentation that supports the need for the Oxygen.  This documentation should not be written on the prescription, but be in the form of report (nurse's notes, report forms, etc.) with the date and time the testing was performed. The supporting documentation should be faxed with order or as soon as possible.  Supporting documentation is used for billing purposes and sometimes to assist in setting up the patient and ongoing patient training.

Maier Family Pharmacy / ConvaCare Services performs Overnight Oximetry Testing by physician order.  Test results are uploaded to Instant Diagnostic and faxed to physician upon completion of testing.
